Dyne Technology offers "LeakTec" an in-line material inspection device used to detect pinholes, leaks and cracks on a multitude of plastic products, primarily manufactured in the food, pharmaceutical and the medical device industry. Typical pinhole testing applications are surface testing of moulding and welding joints in medical devices, like medical tubes, containers, pipettes, cannulaes, and extruded film for medical bags, etc. This fully automatic leak test is capable of detecting pinholes as small as 4 microns by introducing an electrical potential between a pinhole, crack or leak detecting electrode and an electrical ground, (i.e. metal jig or mandrel holding the part) while the plastic part itself acts as the insulator. In the event of detecting a crack, leak or pinhole in the plastic material, an electrical contact is established between electrode and ground. This pass/fail contact is processed via the integral generator module interfaced with the main machine control. The machine control can either enable a downstream ‘part-reject’ function and eject the part with the pinhole, crack or leak, or track trends in the manufacturing process, which can be fed back for early process adjustments or maintenance.
